Position
The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) is an integral part of the PSSO staff team. They work collaboratively to ensure the development and enhancement and sustainability of all areas of the mission – support services, education and research. Although the CEC works with a team to achieve growth throughout the region, they have a designated area of focus as set out in the employment contract. The CEC recognizes that the continuous development of community partnerships, resources and volunteers are the keys to the success of the organization serving the community. The CEC facilitates the strengthening of existing relationships and forms new relationships with a view to reach every person living with Parkinson’s disease in Southwestern Ontario. As with all positions at PSSO, the Community Engagement Coordinator does what needs to be done to put people with Parkinson’s first.

Qualifications & Key Accountabilities
- Post-secondary education and/or 3+ years of event management experience including but not limited to budgets, project management, volunteer coordination, community partnerships
- Post-secondary education and/or 3+ years of fundraising experience including but not limited to individual donations, sponsorships, event fundraising, community grant writing, etc.
- Post-secondary and/or 3+ years of education and resource mobilization experience including but not limited do workshops, webinars, conferences, etc.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and display sound judgement
- Ability to be self-motivated as well as an active team player
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a diverse workload
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other donor database management systems
- Proficiency with standard Microsoft office software
- Ability to travel, access to vehicle, and valid driver’s license
- Resourceful, results-oriented with a positive, "can do" attitude
- Strengthen existing and develop new partnerships with corporations, healthcare agencies and service organizations to enhance service delivery and education opportunities to healthcare partners and people impacted by Parkinson’s
- Create awareness of PSSO in the local communities as the go to organization for Parkinson’s support
- Enter all client interactions & information into Raiser's Edge
- Plan and coordinate annual conferences, semiannual workshops, monthly presentations and bimonthly webinars in conjunction with PSSO team
- Grow existing support groups and establish new support groups in response to needs
- Plan and implement our largest fundraiser, Walk for Parkinson's
- Help build and cooperatively manage a portfolio of major sponsors and prospects (includes prospecting, proposal writing, cultivation and solicitation)
- Recruit, train, motivate and recognize volunteers to support activities and growth
- Participate in annual strategic and operational planning sessions
- Ensure adherence to proper PSSO brand standards
- Participate in team meetings, provide input and ideas for improving overall effectiveness of the region and the organization
