Position

Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario (PSSO) is seeking a Special Events Coordinator with 3+ years experience in a not-for-profit, health related environment. This role requires a natural born leader who is passionate about bringing people together to make a difference in the PSSO community. You are charismatic and excel at building relationships and you put the ‘fun’ in fundraising. You thrive in a busy atmosphere and are motivated by challenge. You are comfortable with flexible working hours, enjoy working with volunteers and leading events.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Special Events Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing a strategy for the overall coordination and management of event activities, to enhance the quality of life for people affected by Parkinson’s. In an effort to increased the visibility of the organization, you will foster relationships with local volunteers and grow local fundraising strategies and initiatives.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Work with the PSSO team to maintain and grow the Walk for Parkinson’s and the Parkinson Golf Classic events, including establishing and maintain strong sponsorship/partnerships
  • Monitor budgets and expenses to ensure successful outcome of events
  • Develop and lead local fundraising strategies, and set goals and tactics to reach your objectives
  • Support and attend third party events
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff and volunteers
  • Recruit, train and recognize leadership volunteers
  • Develop supporting promotional materials
  • Monitor budgets and expenses to ensure successful outcome of events
  • Post secondary education in event planning and management
  • 3 year’s fundraising experience with a proven track record in event management
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate and lead project activities that support our organization’s mission
  • Ability to work with and engage colleagues and multiple stakeholders
  • Strong Communicator
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work on own as well as a team player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge an asset
  • Ability to travel, access to a car and valid drivers license
