Dr. Jack Scott
Lend Me Your Ears: Optimizing Communication
Dr. Jack Scott is an assistant Professor at Western University with over 20 years of experience as an audiologist across clinical, academic, and industrial research settings. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas and has been a Registered Audiologist in Ontario since 2008. A recipient of the Western Humanitarian Award in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Jack is deeply committed to improving healthcare accessibility. His work focuses on the complex intersection of hearing health, aging, and neurological conditions.
Dr. Martin L. Duennwald
Oxidative Stress in Parkinson’s Disease: How Rusty Proteins Impair Brain Cells
Dr. Martin L. Duennwald earned his PhD from the Max Planck Institute in Cologne, Germany, in 2001 and completed postdoctoral training at MIT. After serving as a researcher at the Boston Biomedical Research Institute, he joined the University of Western Ontario in 2012 as an Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. His research focuses on the fundamental mechanisms of neurodegeneration, including Parkinson’s disease, with an emphasis on protein misfolding and oxidative stress.
