“Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario has alot of programs where you can meet other people who have Parkinson’s disease, share stories and get ideas.”
Meet Stephen Nantes.
Stephen began noticing subtle changes in his health in 2016. At first, the symptoms were difficult to clearly identify, and he was not diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease right away. He was told he did not yet meet the criteria. However, as time went on and his symptoms were closely monitored over several years, Stephen and his healthcare team eventually reached a clear diagnosis: Parkinson’s disease.
Looking back, Stephen reflects on how gradually the symptoms appeared, becoming more noticeable over time. While the progression was slow, he began to recognize the impact it was having on his daily life and well-being.
Despite the challenges, Stephen continues to move forward with resilience and perspective. His journey highlights the importance of patience in diagnosis, ongoing medical support, and staying engaged in one’s care.
“Parkinson’s can take time to understand,” he shares through his experience, “but having support and answers makes a real difference.”
Stephen’s story is one of persistence, clarity, and continuing to navigate life with strength and determination.
