Speaker Bio
Adam Kernan is a Detective Constable in the Investigative Services – Fraud unit with the Guelph Police Service. Prior to being a Detective, Adam served as a Neighborhood Patrol Officer as well as a Downtown Resource Officer.
Working in the Fraud unit, Adam assists members of the community by investigating financial and property losses as a result of fraudulent activities. Adam is passionate about creating fraud awareness in the community, as the value and number of fraud investigations continues to grow daily. With the increased sophistication of the individuals and organizations involved, in addition to the cyber environment we find ourselves in today, it is believed that education and awareness are the biggest safeguards available.
Prior to policing, Adam worked as a Staff Accountant at a Public Accounting firm in Guelph, where he assisted clients with their accounting, tax and bookkeeping needs. Adam blends his policing investigative experience with that of his financial background to approach each investigation from an analytical perspective.
